Do you want to learn how to control the butterflies and speak easily when called upon to respond quickly to a question? If you said yes, then join us at Top o’ the Rock Toastmasters to learn about the basics of speech organization, presentation, and style. Top o’ the Rock Toastmasters is a diverse group of individuals who get together weekly to help each other become better speakers. We also develop critical listening skills to assist us in  effective and successful communication. What we learn at Toastmasters makes us better able to communication on our jobs, with our families, and with our friends. All this is accomplished in a professional and supportive atmosphere. As our Mission Statement says: "We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth…. and we have fun doing it!" While Toastmasters is about public speaking, it is much more. According to Top o’ the Rock member, Bob Warren , “Yes, we become better speakers. But we also improve our listening skills, and we learn to provide constructive feedback to others. Toastmasters is also about cultivating leadership skills, and all of this results in personal growth. It’s all done among friends who are members of our club, and we have fun doing it! The experiences we have, and the skills we develop in Toastmasters, help us professionally and personally." Toastmasters is a world wide organization dedicated to helping individuals improve their public speaking and leadership skills. Our local group, Top O’ The Rock Toastmasters, meets in San Marco every Wednesday from noon to 1:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 1435 Atlantic Blvd. It is open to the public and serves all surrounding areas.
