Description
Souhegan Valley Motorsports will be hosting again Mike Duffy from Avalanche1 to bring awareness to Avalanche Safety in the backcountry. Mike Duffy From Avalanche1 returns to New Hampshire! We are working on acquiring some more equipment to do some hands-on training with Mike this time around. So if possible please remember to bring your Transceivers with you as we are looking to do some drills or work with those. If possible bring your bag and setup and we can go over placement of your gear in the pack and what you have in your pack as well as work on the steps of working with your group. This will be 2 part, Mikes presentation on the signs and awareness to refresh everyone's memory on the basics and we will move to some hands on training with transceivers. "In the last eleven years I have been involved with/initiated programs that lead to the annual number of U.S. snowmobile avalanche fatalities dropping by 50%. To do this we had to educate a large number of riders in a short period of time. Awareness classes in dealerships were a crucial part of reducing the number of fatalities. Most of the mistakes that are leading to fatalities are basic mistakes that can be addressed in a dealership class like yours. It's proven to work, my classes address the current problems and go well beyond awareness. Students will learn things in a dealership setting that they will not learn in some level I classes. It's all determined by the quality and experience of the instructor. " -Mike Duffy Below is an outline from MAP (Motorized Avalanche Professionals) MAP is a collective of the best motorized avalanche instructors, schools and training programs in the United States. Our goal is instructor and educational excellence. -In the business of making money from certifying instructors and charging fees to instructors. -Selling presentations for instructors to use. -In the practice of teaching in low depth snow or in areas without an avalanche climate.
