The Crossroads Beatbox Battle is an annual international beatbox competition held in Kansas City, MO. The Crossroads Beatbox Battle Hosted by the Kansas City Beatbox Crew, The Crossroads Beatbox Battle (CRBB) is an annual international beatbox competition held in Kansas City, MO. This year's event will take place over three days (August 27th-29th, 2021) and will include three battle categories: Solo, Tag-Team, and Loopstation. Day 1 of the event (August 27) will be at a separate venue (TBD) and incIude a beatbox workshop from our esteemed judges panel, an open mic cypher, and guest artist performances. Days 2 and 3 (August 28-29) will be held at RecordBar in the Crossroads Arts District, which is when the competition portion of the event will occur. Elimination seeding rounds will happen on Day 2 for all categories. Followed by the Top 16 Solo, Top 8 Tag-Team, and Top 4 Loopstation battles on Day 3. Invite goes out to all beatboxers and spectators! Battle Registration / Event Tickets All artists wanting to compete in this year's beatbox battle MUST purchase a battle registration ticket on this Eventbrite page, AND fill out the battle registration google form listed below. Full three day passes for Spectators are available for purchase on this Eventbrite page. Single day passes can be purchased via the venues website (https://therecordbar.com) or at the door on the day of the event. All venues ( Recordbar ) are restricted to people 18+ years of age (Valid ID Required). However, a minor may attend if specific conditions are met. Judges • Chris Celiz • Gene Shinozaki • Loop de Lou Judging Criteria Elimination rounds and battles (for all three categories: solo, tag-team, and Loopstation) will be judged based on the following criteria. Open Eliminations Each solo/tag-team group will have up to 2 minutes to perform their showcase elimination round, and the Loopstation category will have up to 3 minutes to peform their elimination round.(round times are subject to change depending on the number of registered beatboxers). Each elimination round will be graded on four categories: Originality, Musicality, Technicality, & Showmanship. Each category will be rated on a scale of 1-10. The highest-ranking eliminations for each category will be seeded into the top 16 battles for the Solo category, Top 8 battles for the Tag-Team category, and a top 4 battle for the Loopstation category. Battles •Battles will follow the HBB standard judging criteria. For more details, please refer to https://www.humanbeatbox.com/.../the-complete-guide-to.../. •Battles will be held in ABAB format. •Each contestant/team will have two 90-second rounds. •There will be no countdown between rounds. In other words, battler B responds immediately after battler A finishes. •The winner of the coin toss may choose who goes first. •Judges will vote for the winner after both rounds are complete. •A draw will result in one 30-second overtime round where the 2nd contestant goes first.
