"The Cool Bridge to Chet Baker"
This show traces developments from the late '40s that led to the "cool jazz" West Coast scene in the early to mid '50s. The first few tunes reference the Lennie Tristano Quintet, Miles Davis' "Birth of the Cool" album from 1950, then over to the West Coast with the Gerry Mulligan Quartet (with Chet Baker) and a composition by Dave Brubeck. There are five Russ Freeman tunes with Chet Baker (1953-56) and a couple of tunes from Chet in the 1980s.
