Eating Out: The Hunt for Sustainable Seafood Join Sereia Films for a fun short film series focusing on sustainable seafood and why it's hard to locate decent seafood in South Florida. Video 1 - Meet Dr. Rachel Silverstein - Executive Director of Miami Waterkeeper as she speaks about the declining of water quality, seagrass, coral reef , and fish life in the Biscayne Bay. Chef Alan Susser is introduced as one of the few Miami chefs who uses sustainable, locally caught fish in his restaurant and find out why chefs from all over the world should follow suit. Video 2 - Ride along for a boating adventure as Sarah Curry and team from Sereia Films goes for a day of fishing with three local sustainable chefs. They focus on catching sustainable fish for community dinners to help both chefs and locals become more connected to their seafood. Video 3 - Spearfishing is ectstasy to a Miami local and spearfisher. Dive deep with a local spear fisher woman as we learn about bycatch, why spearfishing is not only more ethical but also a more sustainable fishing technique, and the adventures that comes with it. Who knows, maybe you'll be next spearfisher to join our reefs. Video 4 - Clams have been called the perfect protein - lets find out why! This video features Tampa-based clam farm Two Docks shellfish to explore clam production in South Florida, following it from tide to table. Be sure to check out Sereia Films after the showing for a little Q&A with the Two Dock crew and director. Sereia Films is a nonprofit that appreciates help from those that share the same passion!
