LONG ISLAND, NY— After winning the "golden buzzer" on "America's Got Talent," the Northwell Health Nurse Choice will once again perform on TV. The choir, made up of nurses working for the Northwell Health system across New York State, has two members from Long Island.
In June, the choir's emotional rendition of "Lean on Me" impressed the judges in the audition round. Next Tuesday at 8 p.m., the choir will return to the live round of the reality show.
The choir is made up of amateur singers who all work as practicing nurses at Northwell Health. The two Long Islanders are Winne Mele who lives in Westbury and works at Plainview Hospital and Christian Montanez, of Deer Park, and a nurse at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.
Members of the choir spoke about their time working during the COVID-19 pandemic and how music and their practices together became a cathartic experience.
The choir is competing for the show's ultimate million dollar prize, and the chance to be in the America's Got Talent Las Vegas LIVE stage show at Luxor.
