Press release from the City of Spokane: Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 3:06 p.m. The Spokane Symphony's traditional free Labor Day Weekend Concerts in the parks are back this year after being canceled during the pandemic in 2020. These two concerts are the symphony's gift to the community. They mark the end of summer and the start of the new classical music season. Music Director James Lowe conducts a lineup of light classics, patriotic tunes and music from movies and Broadway. The concerts run about 90 minutes with one 20-minute intermission. Both concerts start at 6:00 p.m. The public is welcome to bring food, blankets, beach towels and low-backed beach-style chairs (28" max. height). No alcohol or glass bottles. No remote controlled flying devices or drones allowed. Animals are prohibited unless they are service animals. This year's Labor Day Monday concert, traditionally held in Comstock Park on Spokane's South Hill, will be in downtown Spokane at the Riverfront Park Pavilion because Comstock Park is under construction for irrigation repairs necessitated by the January 2021 windstorm. The Riverfront Pavilion concert coincides with the last evening of Pig Out in the Park.
