Choose one of these classes: Sept. 13 to Oct. 6, or Nov. 1. to Dec. 15. === Enrollment criteria: Christian Health Care Center’s free nursing assistant certification program trains people who will work at our Lynden skilled nursing center. Applicants must be available to attend classes throughout the seven-week session. Full details and FAQ: Duties of a nursing assistant: Through this certification program, you will learn what it is like to work in a long-term care setting, and you’ll be trained to: • answer call lights and respond to personal requests; • monitor wellness by checking vitals; • recording health information electronically; • help with personal hygiene including brushing teeth, toileting, dressing; • assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including eating, mobility, making beds); • prevent the spread of infections and provide basic skincare; • address mental health challenges; and • more:. Employer-funded nursing assistant certification: CHCC pays all class-related expenses (instructor fee, books, testing and application fees, etc. – a $1,400+ value) as part of our workforce development plan. We are investing in you and helping ensure medically frail individuals in Whatcom County receive the care they need in the future. Job outlook and compensation: Most students who successfully complete the program are eligible for full-time employment at CHCC with access to a generous benefits package (). Hourly wages for recent graduates start at $15 per hour. When you pass the state exam – officially becoming a licensed nursing assistant – the hourly wage increases to $16 per hour.
