Applicants must be available to attend classes throughout the seven-week session. Full details and FAQ: Duties of a nursing assistant: Through this certification program, you will learn what it is like to work in a long-term care setting, and you’ll be trained to: • answer call lights and respond to personal requests; • monitor wellness by checking vitals; • recording health information electronically; • help with personal hygiene including brushing teeth, toileting, dressing; • assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including eating, mobility, making beds); • prevent the spread of infections and provide basic skincare; • address mental health challenges; and • more:. Hourly wages for recent graduates start at $15 per hour. When you pass the state exam – officially becoming a licensed nursing assistant – the hourly wage increases to $16 per hour.
