WINTHROP, MA — Two people were injured and at least 20 were displaced in a natural gas explosion in Winthrop Friday afternoon. The Red Cross said the explosion happened on Irwin Street Friday afternoon. The people who were injured were hospitalized; there was no immediate update on their condition. National Grid and first responders were working to clear the building. No additional details were immediately available. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
