Aquarion To Improve Water Mains In Stamford

STAMFORD, CT — Aquarion Water Company announced on Friday the launch of a water main cleaning project in Stamford. According to a news release from the utility company, work is scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 16 and run through Friday, Oct. 29. "The water main cleaning project is being undertaken to ensure Stamford customers continue to receive the highest quality water," Aquarion said in their announcement. Aquarion warned that customers may notice some discoloration in their water during the 11-week project. The discoloration results from the temporary disturbance of the water dlow, which stirs up naturally occurring minerals that settle in water mains. Aquarion recommends customers store water in their refrigerators for drinking and cooking. Customers should also refrain from washing laundry if water is discolored. Prior to resuming use, customers should run their cold water faucets until the water appears clear. During the first week, water main cleaning will take place Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A daily schedule of affected streets and cleaning times will be available here.
