The Connecticut Department of Public Health, the City of Danbury Department of Health and Human Services, and Sema4 will launch the drive-thru site on Saturday at the Pat Waldron Building (Veteran's Building) at 23 Memorial Drive in Danbury.
No appointment is needed, and there is no cost for the testing.
The site address and hours of operation are:
Pat Waldron Building (Veteran's Building), 23 Memorial Drive, Danbury.
Hours of operation:
Monday and Wednesday: 3 to 7 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
"In terms of COVID testing, it's important to remember that testing saves lives and is easy and quick," said Dr. Deidre S. Gifford, senior advisor to the governor for Health and Human Services, and acting commissioner of the Department of Public Health. "Residents should take a COVID test if they experience symptoms, or if they have been in close proximity with someone diagnosed with COVID."
The new Danbury location will be one of about 309 coronavirus testing sites throughout the state. More are planned in areas of the state where COVID-19 positivity is high and testing capacity may be limited.
Information and specifics about each location—including hours of operation, whether an appointment is needed and whether the site offers pediatric testing— is available online or by calling 211.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough, fatigue, sore throat, congestion and new loss of taste or smell, according to DPH. Residents should seek immediate medical attention if they have any of the following: trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, confusion, or inability to wake or stay awake.
