NEW CARROLLTON, MD — Police said they arrested a Prince George's County man Wednesday on several child exploitation charges. Officers identified the suspect as Eladio Alfaro-Sarmiento, 55, of New Carrolton. Troopers explained he faces: 13 counts of distribution of child pornography13 counts of possession of child pornographyFour counts of production of child pornographyFour counts of sexual abuse of a minor One count of second-degree rape Authorities noted they started the investigation Monday after multiple online tips. The Maryland State Police added they executed a search warrant at the suspect's home Wednesday morning alongside the Prince George's County Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations and the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office. Images obtained helped investigators locate a sexual abuse victim who is less than 2 years old, an incident report informed. Officials mentioned that they are protecting the toddler from further victimization. Detectives wrote they are still investigating whether there are other victims.
