MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Mercer County and New Jersey have seen an uptick in coronavirus cases. But what does that mean for the county? The county averaged 50 new cases per day this week with seven new probable cases being reported daily, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. The cumulative cases now stand at 32,595. No new deaths were reported. Meanwhile, many municipalities across the County like Princeton and Lawrenceville, have reinstated mask mandates, as COVID-19's Delta variant spurs a sharp increase in cases. New Jersey Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said on Monday physicians around the state are concerned about the rising rate of hospitalizations from COVID-19 and the threat of the highly transmissible delta variant.
