NEWARK, NJ — Worried about being evicted amid the pandemic in Newark? There may be a way to avoid losing your home – and it starts with staying informed, officials say. Newark city officials will hold a community meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. via Facebook and Zoom. The meeting will discuss recent changes to the state's eviction ban, which will end on Sept.1 for some residents and Jan. 1, 2022 for others. To be safe, due to changes in the law, every tenant who is behind in paying rent should file a certification to benefit from the protection.
