GLENVIEW, IL — Though the name may have changed, the reason behind the annual event has not. "Coffee For Champions," formerly called "Cop On A Rooftop," returns throughout Illinois on Friday, Aug. 20, including in Glenview.
The fundraiser for Special Olympics Illinois will run from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Dunkin' Donuts, 1750 Milwaukee Ave.
This year marks the 18th anniversary of the Dunkin' with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. This event has been a huge success over the years. More than $5.75 million has been raised in Illinois, according to the Special Olympics Illinois website.
Law enforcement officers will be at more than 300 Dunkin' locations across the state to rally the communities in support of their local Special Olympics athletes.
