Press release from the City of Evanston: 08/11/2021 12:28 PM Join the City of Evanston, 2nd Ward Councilmember Peter Braithwaite, and Evanston Township High School (ETHS) on Saturday, August 14 at noon for a "Black Lives Matter Way" Honorary Street Sign Recognition Ceremony. Head to the intersection of Dodge Avenue and Church Street to hear brief remarks by Councilmember Braithwaite, District 202 School Board members, and ETHS's superintendent and athletics director. Last summer, the ETHS Boys Basketball team was motivated to make an impactful statement about the injustices faced by the Black community by painting "Black Lives Matter" along Dodge Avenue in bold yellow text in front of the high school. Honoring the section of Dodge Avenue in front of ETHS as "Black Lives Matter Way" will serve as a reminder for community members to strive for continuous improvement in order to one day achieve a just and equitable society. For more information, call/text 847-448-4311. For convenience, residents may simply dial 311 in Evanston. This press release was produced by the City of Evanston.
