Police Identify Cornelius Man Slain In Mooresville Park

MOORESVILLE, NC — Authorities released the identity of a Cornelius man shot to death in a Mooresville park Wednesday as the investigation into the homicide continues, Mooresville Police Department said Friday. MPD responded to Magla Park on Spencer Street late Wednesday evening, where they found Jacob Dean Koury, 23, of Cornelius. Koury had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police report. Thursday, MPD released security camera footage and asked for the community's help identifying two persons of interest. The footage showed two males standing outside a door along with a dog. "We have made progress with the investigation, but seek more information." Investigators are asking to speak with anyone who was in Magla Park or the Spencer Streetarea between 9 p.m. - 11:15 p.m. on the evening of Aug 11, MPD said.
