UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — One out of every 372 residents on the Upper West Side has died from the coronavirus, according to data from the city. Of the 211,813 people that live within the 10023, 10024 and 10025 ZIP codes on the UWS, the city says 569 neighbors have passed away from coronavirus. In terms of caseload, one out of every 15 locals has been diagnosed with the coronavirus since the pandemic began in 2020. The 10025 ZIP code, which routinely registered the highest coronavirus rates of the UWS ZIP codes, had both the highest case rate and death rate in the neighborhood. With the spread of the delta variant, virus rates are ticking back up throughout the city, including on the Upper West Side, where all three of the ZIP codes are between 1.86 and 2.36 percent positivity over the past week.
