Press release from the Atlanta Police Department: 08/12/2021 On Tuesday August 10, 2021, at around 12:10am officers responded to a person shot at 2617 Old Hapeville Rd SW. On scene officers found a deceased adult male on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. Homicide investigators responded and are working to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.   Please keep in mind this is preliminary information and may change as the investigation progresses.   UPDATE:  Arrest Made in the August 10th Homicide at 2617 Old Hapeville Rd The Atlanta Police Department is pleased to announce an arrest has been made in the August 10, 2021, homicide of 27-year-old Zerrick Monson that occurred at 2617 Old Hapeville Rd. Following the fatal shooting, Homicide Investigators were able to identify a suspect in the case and secured Fulton County arrest warrants for 30-year-old Deyanciss Burnett for the charges of Felony Murder and Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony. On Thursday, August 12, 2021, officers with the Zone 3 Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) were able to apprehend Deyanciss Burnett at 221 Cleveland Avenue and took him into custody without incident.    We want to thank Zone 3 CSU for doing an outstanding job on apprehending this dangerous murder suspect and getting him off the streets thus making our city that much safer.
