Summary/Objective: Responsible for cleanliness of warehouse areas, building exterior, dock area, waste/dump disposal area, restrooms, break room, dispatch office, as well as general warehouse cleaning; must be able to work in refrigerated areas. Also maintains all sanitation logs and maintenance work order records. Work Attire: Must wear closed-toed shoes or boots, hearing protection if needed, and food safety equipment, which may include hairnets, and beard nets. Jewelry of any kind may not be worn while in the packaging/cooler area, with exception of a simple wedding band (per GCC GMP’s). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are included. Other duties may be assigned. • Sweep and pickup all trash in designated areas. • Maintain and empty all trashcans in & warehouse & outdoor areas, office restrooms, the break room, and the shipping office. • Stock sanitation supplies in break area & restrooms. • Responsible for keeping track of inventory of sanitation supplies and notifying manager if stock is low. • Keep chemicals, etc. in the appropriate storage areas and according to SDS/know where SDS book is located. • Mop the break room, and shipping area as well as maintain cleanliness in warehouse and dock areas. • Clean spider webs, moisture, and general warehouse cleanliness in cooler and dock areas. • Clean floors, windows, cooler curtains and surfaces as needed throughout warehouse, office & dock areas. • Ensure that the designated areas are swept, dusted, kept clean, and are free of debris. • Responsible for sanitation condition of entire 20-acre facility/cooler. • Maintains all sanitation logs and maintenance work order records. • Able to understand and follow GCC SSOP’s Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures • Perform all duties to clean administrative offices to include but not limited to emptying trash, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms. • Perform light maintenance tasks…Painting, PVC repairs, baring lubrication. • Comply with and ensure adherence to departmental Master Sanitation Schedule. • Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment. • Holiday, Weekend and Overtime work as needed. • Good attendance and adherence to work schedule. • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices, Company Policies, Code of Conduct and Safety procedures. • This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position. Employee(s) will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by any person authorized to give instructions or assignments. • Minimum Qualifications: • Some warehouse/facilities preferred. • Minimum of six (6) month’s janitorial experience strongly recommended. Skills and Abilities: • High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred. • Able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations • Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) • Perform light maintenance tasks…Painting, PVC repairs, baring lubrication. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, an associate regularly works in climate-controlled areas, such as coolers, freezers, restrooms, the break room, the dock area, and the shipping & main offices. The work environment may include some congested traffic areas and slippery floors. Be aware of your surroundings. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required: • Rubber Gloves • Eye protection during chemical transfer and use of power tools • Ear protection is designated areas. • Rubber boots during high pressure cleaning process • Safety Vest • Facial mask for prevention of inhalation of dust particles Physical Demands: The Physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to perform the essential functions of this job. • Stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, squat, turn body, and walk. • Must come prepared and dressed to work in and out of cooler areas as low as 32-38° Fahrenheit. • Lift and move bags of trash ranging in weight from 1 lb. to 50 lbs. Use hands to sweep and pick up debris. • Must exhibit a required level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform requirements of the position. • Ability to communicate effectively with team members. • Able to operate a forklift or have the basic understanding (training provided by GCC).
