Tasks & Duties: • Operate forklift, sawmill, edger, wood chipper • Load and unload logs and material from trucks • Stack and palletize processed material • Prepare orders to ship • Chop and stack firewood • Operate chainsaw • Feed and remove logs from sawmill • Use small hand tools • Housekeeping of yard, clean up debris and sawdust • Advise owner of shop supply inventories • Borax, prepare and seal logs • Perform pre-use safety checks on equipment and tools • Fuel and maintain in good condition equipment and tools • Attend safety and training meetings • Follow safety procedures and properly use safety equipment • Any other task as requested Ideal candidates have a background in construction, labor, making furniture, milling wood, operating chain saws. Candidates must be responsible, reliable, and have a positive attitude. You should be a ready to be on your feet, moving around, and looking at beautiful pieces of wood. You must be able to coordinate and plan with coworkers to ensure safe and efficient mill operations. Have the ability to understand posted safety signs within facility and on equipment. Ability to understand, manifest, and retain instructions from owner regarding safety and mill operations, both verbal and written. Must be coachable and willing to learn.
