We offer custom finishing options to commercial and residential customers. We are seeking Wood Sanders/Finishers to assist the Production Team with a variety of tasks such as sanding, masking, prepping and spraying cabinets with proper knowledge of spray techniques for paint and other coatings for different product types. Experience with lacquer, conversion varnish and polyurethane a big plus. The ideal candidate has a vast understanding of material finishing and possesses all aspects of high-end shop work from sanding to priming and spraying a variety of different finishes. The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible, has a great attention to detail, a high sense of quality, and is professional to work with. Standard work hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. JOB TITLE: Wood Prepper Sander / Finisher - Cabinets, Doors, Drawers, Millwork JOB SUMMARY: Preppers, Sanders and Finishers work directly with Foreman to properly prepare substrates to receive coatings. Assists team with various tasks to keep projects moving through the shop efficiently. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepare cabinet, doors, windows and other substrates to receive finish by properly sanding between finish coats. Properly mask items that are not to receive finish. Assist with disassembly and reassembly of basic cabinet, door, and window parts. Identifying any flaws in finish and submitting them back to Production Lead to be addressed. Inspect completed jobs for proper quality control. Observe and maintain all safety procedures. Provide support to Forman with other duties as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: Previous prepping experience preferred but not required. At least 1-year experience as a Finisher/Spray Booth Operator. Ability to: Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. A sense of urgency and a passion for quality, customer, and company satisfaction. Receive and provide constructive feedback. Work independently and productively. Honesty and integrity, exercise good judgment. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to understand read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. REASONING SKILLS: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations using good judgement where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS: Ability to work with a wide variety of tools including the following: Sanders, Screw drivers, Tape Measure, and others. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Standing/walking approximately 8 hours/day, 5 days a week. May be required to work 6 days/week depending on business need. May be required to work overtime. Use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, particularly reading that may be very fine print. The employee will regularly be twisting, bending, squatting, pushing, and moving or lifting 10-15 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and up. Rolling carts, and other tools are available to move product as well. Wear respirator and PPE always while operating in the spray booth. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level is usually loud. Employees may be exposed to hazardous chemicals in the workplace. Respirator/PPE required. SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Northwest Finishing's Safety Program and all established safety rules must be followed, and equipment used where required. This will include safety glasses, hearing protection, and a respirator paid for by employee. This position will also require use of gloves when needed.
