Quick Summary: The typical day of the facilities and transportation assistant might include: • Pick up students • Water plants, tending to planters, garden • Maintain campus to keep it looking its best, such as blowing away weeds, cleaning outdoor class areas, removing outdoor trash • Occasional projects like maintaining playgrounds, painting, event setup/ tear down, replacing HVAC filters, moving items around campus, vehicle maintenance, other duties as needed. • Drop off students This person will drive a 14-passenger school vehicle to be used to transport students. They can take the vehicle home each evening to ease that process. Start time is 7:00am to 4pm daily with a one-hour break for lunch. Special events and projects may require different hours from time to time. Job Summary: The Facilities and Transportation Assistant will help keep the Selwyn School campus and facilities in clean and working order. The role includes morning and afternoon transportation of students between campus and our bus stop using a school vehicle. Arrival at the bus stop is currently 7:25a, departure from campus is 3:45p; exceptions apply. Facilities responsibilities include regular campus inspection, outdoor and indoor maintenance and upkeep and managing vendor vendors for larger projects. Selwyn School is an independent school located in Argyle, TX serving PK through Grade 12.. This position is supported by various vendors including a lawn maintenance firm and janitorial service. General Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will: • Hold a high school or equivalent trade school degree. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in engineering, construction management or a related field is preferred. • Have a valid Texas driver’s license. • Have at least 5 years with demonstrated expertise in facilities maintenance/repair or related fields, with supervisory experience a part of this background. • Have a working knowledge of maintenance, cleaning, facilities projects such as simple electrical, plumbing, painting and the like. • Have a valid driver’s license in the state of Texas, a safe driving record, and the ability to drive small buses, vans or similar. • Demonstrated success in maintaining a larger facility such as a school. • Have a familiarity with building and system blueprints, schematics. • Be able to effectively work with a diverse team in a constructive, respectful manner. • Help manage contracted vendors to ensure compliance with their agreements. • Have effective written and oral communication skills. • Have unimpeachable ethics, honesty, respect for all and a deep desire to work on behalf of students and the people who serve them. • Other skills, education and experience as the position requires over time. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Ensure the campus, vehicles and facilities are presentable, safe, functional and ready to use throughout the school year for classes and events. • Work with the Director Of Operations and Head to be aware of planned school events and plan facilities support as needed for these events. This includes seating, moving supplies, other duties as needed. • Supervise vendors when onsite, ensuring they are fulfilling their commitments. Coordinate with landscaping, janitorial and other recurring service providers to ensure that the quality and timeliness of their work is acceptable. • Replace HVAC filters and related items on their monthly schedule. • Ensure all safety and security systems and alarms are in working order, all locks and keys properly maintained and securely stored. • Supervise contracted labor as needed. • Maintain campus lawns and grounds, either personally or via a vendor, as determined by Director Of Operations. • Proactively maintain a reporting system so that pending and completed tasks are tracked in a timely manner. A working knowledge of computers and office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is necessary. • Act as the primary and first-on-scene contact for after-hours contact for security or fire alarm notifications, reporting to the Director Of Operations in the event of damage, theft or other issue. • Transport students to and from our designated stop and campus each morning, afternoon and as needed for events, etc. • Track and report expenses related to the role, following business office guidance. • Track and report facilities and maintenance requests and their completion in a timely manner. Have a working knowledge of basic computer applications like Outlook email, Word and related. • Routinely inspect equipment, systems and report to Director Of Operations with anticipated replacement or repair requirements. Provide cost estimates for repairs and purchases. • Other projects, duties, reporting, processes as assigned by the Director Of Operations or head of school. Other Qualifications: All prospective employees must be able to clear a background check including driving record and other employee screening as required.
