[If you only play guitar, hold off for now; if you play other things in addition to guitar, please reach out!) Hello! I (29M, have been in other bands in the NYC area) am a guitarist/vocalist/does other things who is interested in getting a group of musicians together who are into the groove - think Talking Heads, think Phish, think P-Funk, think Blood Orange, think James Brown, think LCD Soundsystem and/or think Prince. If you have a good handle on rhythm, that's a great start - not necessary to be able to read music or anything beyond knowing chords, and if you can fill space with frills, all the better. Nothing terribly serious, at least initially, but you should be able to play, and the sooner you can lock into something good and know it, the better. I have some songs and song sketches but am wide open to collaborate with anybody of any background/age/creed/etc. and also any instrument, including vocals. The more perspectives and input, the merrier! I don't have a dedicated rehearsal space but am open to look for one (if you have one already, that's a massive plus!), and musicians who can readily transport their instruments are more than welcome to come by my apartment (fully vaxxed), but space is limited here if we have more people join.
