CMM is leading the way in creating Black wealth equity through home rehabilitation and workforce development. Now you, your congregation, or your organization, can become a part of this exciting movement for change.
The statistics are grim. The average Black family in Boston has an average net wealth of $8.00, compared to the White family’s $247,500, according to a 2015 study by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
For three years, CMM has taken applications to rehab homes in Boston and adjacent areas. Using volunteers from faith communities, universities, and leadership programs, we have successfully completed work on 16 homes in four years. Now we invite you to contact us at [email protected] to let us know you want to become involved.
Anyone who is physically capable of holding a paintbrush and standing for a few hours is welcome. High school youth groups, college groups, leadership groups and others have all participated. You are also welcome to sign up as an individual.
Please visit http://coopmet.org/clah/ for more info and ways to get involved!
CMM is a grassroots interfaith social action organization in greater Boston. Inspired by Martin Luther King's vision to "Build the Beloved Community", CMM has been uniting people of faith and conscience in action since 1966.
