Please apply online at: Position Summary: The Shop/Field Machinist will work on a variety of equipment in support of projects for the Field Services and Manufacturing Operations departments. Position responsibilities may differ at each business location. The Shop/Field Machinist will primarily support Field Services projects, both in the field and in the assigned facility. Secondary responsibilities will be supporting the production department(s) at the assigned facility. The ideal machinist will be able to move throughout the manual machining area and perform all operations to finish parts following blueprints provided. "Bridgeport" type mill and manual lathe experience must be at a journeyman level with ability to inspect parts produced. Ideal candidate will have experience with pipe end prep equipment in the areas of grinding, machining, ID / OD mounted machinery, and precision measurement for bevel preps. Travel will be required to support field machining projects as needed, using portable equipment at regional customer’s work locations. The Shop/Field Machinist is responsible for being organized and time conscious to meet deadlines to support customer's and business needs. Essential Duties & Functions: • Perform all duties as assigned and in adherence with Tri Tool’s Core Values • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace; report all potentially unsafe conditions or maintenance needs. • Design and produce fixtures for upcoming jobs as assigned. • Utilize shop math skills and perform tasks with Safe shop and machining practices. • Follow blueprints to produce finished parts while maintaining quality standards. • Safely operate appropriate equipment for assigned tasks: Manual Lathe, Manual Mill, Grinders and sanders, various types of presses, various types of saws, various types of inspection equipment, and various cranes and operate forklifts. • Communicate with supervisor or operations team of the tooling needed to complete upcoming jobs. • Regularly maintain and complete upkeep of facility assigned vehicle and equipment. • Perform fabrications tasks to support facility needs. • Work cooperatively with coworkers in facility and on job site to ensure efficient and effective communication and teamwork. • Work with other departments as requested for assistance with projects or assigned duties to ensure all departments are fully prepared to support project work and customer needs to the highest level possible. Requirements: - High School Diploma or G.E.D required. - Must have valid drivers license with clean driving record - Must be eligible to work in U.S. without Visa sponsorship - Must be able to gain access to secure locations as required - 1-2 Years working as a journeyman level machinist; with demonstrated knowledge of proper machining practices - Demonstrated safe working practices both in a production facility and on industrial job sites - Requires constant use of hands to lift and hold heavy objects - Knowledge and ability to use a respirator and other Personal Protective Equipment - Ability to become forklift certified at assigned facility - Ability to professionally communicate to ensure successful outcomes - Ability to read and comprehend blueprints - Ability to read and comprehend measuring equipment - Knowledge of proper machining practices - Ability to plan and tool up for assigned machining applications - Positive and effective communication skills - Must be highly organized - Ability to follow detailed instructions and demonstrate good decision making Typical Working Conditions: Working environment includes exposure to industrial or construction settings with oils, grease and solvents. Use of grinding, polishing and cutting equipment. Prolonged exposure to noise from the surrounding work areas. Proper use of the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and engineering controls are mandatory. Work may be conducted within a workshop or field environment. The work may also include an outdoor or job site environment based on customer needs. Depending on the Location the climate can vary in areas of temperatures, exposure to fumes, solvents, chemicals, lubricants, and loud machinery. Required Use of Equipment: Personal Protection Equipment Required. Position may be required to use the following based on facility assignment or job site requirements: Manual Machining Equipment; manual mills, lathes, or manual/mechanized welding equipment. Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) Machines; CNC Mills and Lathes, Honing machine, Grinders and Sanders, various types of presses, Sheet metal brake, various types of saws, various types of inspection equipment, various cranes and lifts as needed for each job. Could include saws, welders, torches, power tools, hand tools, and Tri Tool machinery. Telephones, computers, copiers, printers, or typical office equipment. Essential Physical Tasks: Repetitive lifting/moving up to 50 pounds without assistance; Lifting/Moving anything over 50 pounds must be assisted. Duties may require stretching, bending, and grasping in tight spaces, climbing of ladders and working from scaffolding, or working in confined spaces. Constant use of hands to lift and hold objects. Must be able to wear safety equipment as required for personal protection. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; stoop, squat, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to safely use hand tools, power tools, large equipment, forklifts and maintenance materials.
