This presentation will help prepare parents for what to expect in the IEP meeting, and how to have a productive student-focused meeting. PEATC, in collaboration with Suffolk Public Schools, presents Understanding Special Education and Ins and Outs of IEP Meetings. These two presentations provide parents with the foundation needed to navigate special education in Virginia. Attendees will learn about the process, how to prepare for meetings, and have the opportunity to ask questions about how to effectively advocate for their child. Lakeland High School - Ins and Outs of IEPs - 8/19/2021 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Nansemond River High School - Ins and Outs of IEPs - 8/25/2021 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) is a a statewide non-profit organization that strives to empower students and self-advocates to create positive futures for Virginia's children by working collaboratively with families, schools and communities in order to improve opportunities for excellence in education and success in school and community life. Our special focus is children with disabilities. This event is being presented by PEATC in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).
