Paper Embroidery Workshop with Alee Hernandeux THIS IS AN IN-PERSON WORKSHOP! We will be outside during the class and you are required to wear a mask if you have not been vaccinated. Date: SATURDAY, Sept 18, 2021 Time: 3:00pm-6:00pm Location: Pour Vida Art & Plant House 2124 Lincoln Blvd. Venice, CA 90291 NOTE: YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOS TO EMBROIDERY. MAKE SURE YOU PRINT THEM ON THICK CARDSTOCK. ALSO, YOU CAN CHOOSE FROM TWO IMAGES. PLEASE INDICATE WHICH TWO YOU WOULD LIKE AT CHECK-OUT: JIMI STEVIE WAR IS OVER BUS RAINBOW CACTUS PLANTS Course Description: In this workshop Alee will share with you her own techniques to embroider on paper and how to design, trace and plan your own templates. You will learn some basic stitches and patterns, how to add text and how to combine them so you can create a richly expressive motif on any photo. Plus, she will give you over 20 pattern templates to take home for your future projects. Tools and Materials Provided: Mixed colored threads Embroidery needles Sharpie Scotch tape Scissors Foam backing placemats Acetate sheets 8x10" black and white photographs Practice sheet ABOUT THE ARTIST: Alee Hernandeux is a Mexican textile artist and mixed media illustrator currently living and working in Monterrey, México. Her current artworks are mostly inspired by her culture, alchemy and the magical process of transformation documenting her own spiritual journey. Her main purpose is to be able to share a message of love through her work and to inspire others to empower themselves through creativity and art.
