The Carly Bates Project will perform a program of original music, arrangements of popular music and jazz standards Carly Bates-vocals/piano with Gina Jurek-vocals, Erika Sharpe-bass, Caleb Davis-drums Featuring Erika Sharpe on bass, Caleb Davis on drums, and Gina Jurek on vocals, this ensemble will perform a program of Carly's original music, arrangements of popular music (including James Blake, Prince, and Lauryn Hill), and reimaginings of jazz standards. Carly Bates is pianist, educator, and artistic collaborator in Phoenix, AZ, who creates with all kinds of storytellers: musicians, movers, poets, and theatre artists. She currently plays in a local band called Hyperbella and in a local theatre company called Playback Arizona. She teaches private piano lessons and instructs piano classes with ASU’s Popular Music Program.
