Yoga for your relationship with Fear | The Supple Psoas
Join this sessions instructor, Emily for an hour long slow flow movement class. You will move through a series of postures that are targeted at releasing your psoas, which is a muscle that connects your legs to your body, and is responsible for the activation of our sympathetic nervous system--or our "fight or flight" response muscle.
You can expect a sequence that will help you find the tension that you hold in your body and begin to change your relationship with that grip. As we release the psoas, we also begin to tap into our parasympathetic nervous system, which allows us to access a true space of rest. Over time, finding ourselves feeling safe allows us to approach our lives with a healthier relationship to anxiety and fear.
Suitable for all levels/no experience necessary
Props: A yoga or exercise mat. Two blocks optional.
Emily has been teaching yoga for the last five years. She never meant to become a yoga teacher and is delighted to have discovered that sharing this practice has changed her life for the better. Emily believes yoga is a way to lead a more balanced life that is in tune with your experience in the world, awakened to the waves that are sometimes cruel, sometimes kind. It’s in the detours that we truly find our way. Her offerings are full of accessible movement, contemplation and conversation.
*This class is $10 a person AND the instructor is donating half of the proceeds to the Northside Food Bank!
