TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury police arrested two men Monday and Wednesday and charged both with illegal gun possession, the department said Thursday. Both men were from out of state. The first arrest arose from a drug investigation around Main Street, the police said. Joshua Deleon, 26 of Derry, New Hampshire, was arrested. A gun and a loaded magazine were found in his vehicle, the police said. Deleon was not licensed to carry a gun or ammunition in Massachusetts, police said. He was charged with unlawful gun possession and unlawful ammunition possession. He was due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court Tuesday. The second arrest, Wednesday, followed a call to Tewksbury police about an argument around Highwood Drive where one of the people involved "possibly had a firearm." Police found a gun in a backpack that had been thrown over a fence into nearby woods before the police arrived, they said. A Westford police dog helped find the gun. Zieking Welton, 23 of Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with unlawful gun possession, unlawful possession of a loaded gun, unlawful ammunition possession and improper gun storage. Walton was not licensed to carry a gun or ammunition in Massachusetts or any other state, police said. He was due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court Thursday. All people are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
