NEW YORK CITY — No COVID-19 vaccine, no indoor service — that's the policy many New York City businesses have set even before it becomes a citywide rule next week. Want to eat and sip vino at City Winery? Show proof of vaccination. Catch a show at Union Hall? Whip out your Excelsior Pass. Businesses that became early adopters of New York City's upcoming Aug. 16 vaccination mandate — known as "Key To NYC" — for indoor dining, shows and gyms drew praise from Mayor Bill de Blasio. "Early adopters of the Key to NYC program are public health heroes," he said in a statement. "Their leadership and fast action sends a powerful message: New Yorkers will do everything in our power to keep each other safe and defeat COVID-19." De Blasio's office singled out 30 businesses that had set up requirement early, although the list is by no means comprehensive. It also includes major employers like Related and the Durst Organization that don't necessarily fall under the coming vaccination mandate. The businesses are: · Amor Y Amargo· Avant Garden· Bossa Nova Civic Club· Cadence· City Winery· Dame· Death & Co· Dirt Candy· Etérea· Felix Storch· Forsythia· Gertie· Ilili· Jeju Noodle· Ladybird· Leland· Leyenda· Llama San· Nowadays· Proletariat· Public Hotel· Related· RXR Realty· Soda Club· Tannat· The Bell House· The Durst Organization· The Pedal House· The Queensboro· Union Hall· Unter· Yellow Rose The proof of vaccination requirement starts Aug. 16, but enforcement won't begin until Sept. 13 as the city irons out kinks in the program. City officials promised to release more details on requirements next week. New Yorkers will have to show proof of vaccination by the city's "COVID Safe NYC App," the state's Excelsior Pass or a paper vaccination card.
