NO STUDENTS this class and only 1 person per agency or per shift. I would suggest the EMS officer or training officer attend. This is a Hands on Physcian Led educational experience. Due to COVID, space is limited and social distancing will be followed, YOU will need a mask to attend as well. Please watch AEMS on face book for additional resources. Space is limited; if you cannot attend please cancel your registration Located at Volker Hall- If you enter from the front, 8th avenue (University Ave) side, follow the signs once inside to the OIPS labs on the lower level--the surgical lab we use has moved to the ground floor in Volker Hall. The new room number is G072 (across the hall from the SOM computer lab, just around the corner from the OPIS labs). (Please be quite as there are classes and testing on-going at Volker Hall) It is easier to enter from the back of Volker hall, from the outside steps. (7th Ave entrance, the corner of Volker hall closest to 18th street)) Go up the steps that are outside and enter to your right. (steps go all the way to Terrace and patio area but you only go up half way and enter to your right) As you enter the building go straight and then take the long hallway to your left, the door to enter the lab will be down that hallway on your left . There will be signs to assist . Remember your mask and to social distance. There are chairs and if they are full, please wait outside until your allotted time. The main cadaver lab is also on that level as well, but we do not use it. We use the surgical anatomy lab room and it will be clearly marked for Alabama EMS Challenge. Can park at the old Children’s Hospital garage (7th and 16th) or in the garage at corner of 16th and University Ave. Be advised parking is bad on a good day, plan to arrive early.
