RESTON, VA — All the Reston card sharks and Mahjong wizards will soon have a place to show off the skills they honed while stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. "While we have reinvented many of our programs since March of 2020, offering virtual and socially distanced options, it was impossible to convert some of our most popular programs to that format," said Karen Brutsché, director of leisure and learning for the Reston Community Center. "We know our patrons are eager to socialize with their friends at their favorite RCC activities." Reston residents and non-Reston patrons are invited to sign up for one of these popular Lifelong Learning programs returning this fall: Bridge: Intermediate and advanced players are invited to play Mondays, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at RCC Hunters Woods and Tuesdays, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at RCC Lake Anne. This opportunity is free, but registration is required. Trips: Take a trip with RCC and let them handle the driving, parking and other details. Trips currently scheduled for this fall are the Museum of the Bible (Sept. 16) and the International Spy Museum (Oct. 14). In addition, RCC is planning a trip to Toby's Dinner Theatre to see Irving Berlin's White Christmas on Nov. 17. Prices vary and advance registration is required. American Mahjong: Work on your game at RCC Hunters Woods Wednesdays, from 1:15-3:45 p.m., or Thursdays, from 9:30 a.m.- 12 p.m. This opportunity is free, but registration is required. Drop-in programs such as Bridge now require patrons to register in advance with their myRCC account. More information is available on the RCC website or by calling 703-476-4500, and pressing 8 to speak to a customer service representative.
