BEVERLY, MA — Beverly police will begin truly calling their new Elliot Street station home as of Thursday.
Police will move to the new $20 million station with Chief John LeLacheur saying that that the new station should be operational by 5 p.m.
He said that for a period of time during the transition 911 calls will be rerouted to Danvers police, who will then relay the calls to Beverly PD. Beverly police can be contacted directly for non-emergency calls at 978-922-1212.
The three-story station will fully replace the Cabot Street one built 83 years ago and consolidates a department spread out across multiple buildings because of the small size of the soon-to-be-former headquarters.
A grand opening for the new station is being planned for September.
Plans for the new station began with designing and development in 2019.
