Press release from Towson University: Kyle Hobstetter August 11, 2021 Learn more about move-in, dining and vaccine requirements Starting Wednesday, Aug. 25, Towson University will welcome almost 6,000 student housing residents back to campus for the fall 2021 term. Here is what students need to know about vaccinations, the move-in process, campus construction, dining, parking and more. All students must complete the pre-move-in process before coming to pick up their residence hall key by visiting the student housing gateway and clicking on "Pre-Move-In Process." There, students will review their emergency information card, learn about TU's housing policies and review important move-in information. If students do not complete this process, they will not be able to check in and pick up their keys.  To be in compliance with the University System of Maryland's mandate, students must be fully vaccinated (including the waiting period after the final vaccination was administered) or have an approved vaccine exemption to move in.   Students must submit vaccine verification or apply for an exemption. Students who are not compliant with the mandate may not live on campus this term. Students who are not fully vaccinated can still come to campus and attend classes, but until fully vaccinated, they must wear masks indoors, take a return COVID-19 test, complete daily Tigers Care QuickScan screenings and participate in twice-weekly sentinel testing as directed. Students should not attempt to verify vaccination status until a final dose is administered. Once verified at towson.edu/vaxverify, students can cease daily screenings, testing and mask wearing (where not otherwise required).  Students are required to register for a specific, two-hour window before moving in Aug. 25 and Aug. 29. Move in will take place from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on each day. For example, if you select 10 a.m. as your move-in time, you would have from 10 a.m. until noon to move in. Here is the move-in schedule for the fall: Students can select a move-in time by going to the student housing gateway and can change their move-in window starting on Aug. 13. During a student's move-in window, they will arrive at the South Campus Pavilion to check in, retrieve their room key and confirm they are compliant with the USM's COVID-19 mandate. Students may not bring more than two move-in helpers, and the student must be the only one that enters the South Campus Pavilion for check-in. Towson University will provide help through the student-led "Move-In Crew." Move-in windows are based on a student's class standing. Each time slot is limited to 15 students per building. Move-in time slot selection began on Aug. 10. Students will only see time slots that are available to them. Only students who have been approved can move in early. Early arrivals will be emailed their move-in date and time. Move in will occur from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. based on your building assignment. You will not be able to move in before your approved move-in date. Towson University continues to grow, and that is evident by the changes that students will see when returning to campus. The biggest change is Towson University's new Science Complex. The building is now TU's largest academic structure and features 50 teaching laboratories, 30 research laboratories, 50 classrooms, eight lecture halls, 10 collaborative student spaces, an outdoor classroom leading to the Glen Arboretum, a rooftop greenhouse complex, a new planetarium and an observatory. READ MORE: TU's new Science Complex opens The Towson University Union is seeing an overhaul, with part of the building opening in time for the term. This includes new dining options, more space for student organizations, a new and larger ballroom space and a new home to the TU Career Center. There will be some ongoing construction throughout the year, as the project has entered Phase 2 of its plan. READ MORE: University Union expansion Renovations to the Glen Towers began this summer with Tower C. The renovations will include updating the utility infrastructure and replacing the exterior facades of each tower. Each renovation will take approximately one year and will be carried out consecutively to maximize housing availability. Following Tower C's reopening in summer 2022, TU will renovate Towers B, A and D in subsequent years through 2025. The Glen Dining Hall, which was recently renovated, will remain open. READ MORE: Glen Towers Renovation Finally, Towson University has broken ground on a new College of Health Professions building. Located along University Avenue on the campus's academic core, the 240,000-square-foot building will contain 19 collaborative classrooms; 10 specialty labs facilitating hands-on learning in nursing, occupational therapy, pediatrics, anatomy, health assessment and more; 10 patient exam rooms; eight speech and audiology research labs; six specialty simulation labs; an acute care multi-patient simulation environment; and a 300-seat auditorium. Parking and road adjustments are being implemented. Pedestrians should follow posted signs. Paratransit assistance is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays by calling 410-704-RIDE (7433).  READ MORE: College of Health Professions building page Students can now purchase their fall 2021 term parking permits. Before a permit can be purchased, you must be registered for classes and have your housing assignment (if applicable). All permits are purchased online through eParking.  Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. On most weekdays during the fall and spring terms, the Towsontown, Glen and Union garages are full by 10 a.m. Ample parking in the lots near the stadium complex and free shuttle services are available. All vehicles parked on campus must have a valid permit during enforcement hours: Monday–Thursday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn more about student parking permits and regulations by checking out the student parking website.
