Press release from the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture: Aug 11, 2021 American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers Competition Held Virtually On Wednesday, July 14, five Herbert College of Agriculture students in the Department of Biosystems Engineering and Soil Science participated in a virtual competition through the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) in two teams. One team placed first with a project titled "Gradual Rotary Adjustment for Sloped Surfaces," affectionately referred to as the bushhog team. Team members included Margie Peeler, Jim Roebuck and Lewis Webber. The team was advised by associate professor John Buchanan. One team placed third in the national design competition with a project titled "Solid-State Microwave Control and Data Collection System." Team members included Benjamin Cruz and Colby Gillman. The team was advised by Department of Food Science assistant professor JiaJia Chan and Department of Biosystems Engineering and Soil Science assistant professor Hao Gan. These wins represent a long history of excellence in design competitions from Herbert students in the Department of Biosystems Engineering and Soil Science. Read more at bess.tennessee.edu.
