There are plenty of virtual and in-person events happening throughout the weekend of August 12, here are a few to get you started! Thursday 8/12 Jersey City Community Blood Drive - In Honor of Ayden Urgent Need! Please make an appointment to give blood at DVORA on Thursday, August 12th between 12:30pm-6:30pm. To make an appointment, you can visit www.nybc.org/donate or text 732-616-8736. Appointments encouraged, Walk-ins welcome if social distancing can be maintained. Please help spread the word. Lunch with the Library - Van Vorst Park Farmers' Market Join us at Van Vorst Park (located at the gazebo) every week for arts & crafts, exercise, gardening, poetry, and more. Participants will get a free library card on the spot. Here's what's coming up: July 8 Join SNAP-Ed in the park for valuable nutrition information for your family. Plus, a food demo & recipe for Peach Salsa. Free fruit giveaway! July 15 Poetry in the Park! Historic Downtown Farmer's Market Over 15 great vendors joining for today's market including Circle Brook and Stony Hill Farms. Located at the Grove Street Plaza. Friday 8/13 La Festa Italiana La Festa Italiana at Holy Rosary Church is century old tradition that celebrates Italian Heritage, Food and Faith. The festival runs Friday through Sunday. Light-Up Pride Night Ride Come celebrate JC Pride with BIKE JC in this special ride celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival. Riders are encouraged to decorate and light up their bikes in honor of the festivities. Riders gathers at 7:30 and roll out at sunset. Saturday 8/14 Puerto Rican Parade and Festival Celebrating Puerto Rican culture and heritage on Saturday and Sunday at Christopher Columbus Drive (Between Marin Blvd & Warren Street). Sunday 8/15 Jersey City's Summerfest, Liberty State Park Concert Series The City of Jersey City, Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Jersey City Municipal Council and the Office of Cultural Affairs are excited to welcome back the SummerFest concert series. SummerFest is a concert series that takes place every Tuesday and Sunday in Liberty State Park during the months of July and August. Part of the larger Summer in the City series, the Office of Cultural Affairs hand selects musical groups ranging in flavor, from Motown, Jazz, Blues, Vintage and Classic Rock, Country, Cuban Dance, Funk and R&B.
