SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — San Diego County is opening more COVID-19 testing sites due to increased demand. Four new sites have opened or will open this week at locations in Lemon Grove, San Diego and Vista. The new sites are: Lemon Grove Senior Center – Now Open8235 Mount Vernon St., Lemon Grove10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through SaturdayNorthgate Market San Diego – Now Open5403 University Ave., San Diego9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. WednesdaysNorth County Lifeline – Opens Aug. 12200 Michigan Ave., Vista CA9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ThursdaysBorder View YMCA –Opens Aug. 153601 Arey Drive, San Diego10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday"In late July, we started to see a significant increase in demand for COVID-19 testing," said Denise Foster, the county's chief nursing officer and COVID-19 clinical director. "In response to the need, we quickly identified several new sites to increase capacity." In addition to these new sites, the county opened six other sites last week, bringing the daily testing capacity to about 6,500 tests each day.
