Description

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Natural Gas Pipeline, or NGPL, multi-use path in Romeoville was recently completed after several months of construction. The path starts near the Village Place apartments on Normantown Road and links to existing path along Taylor Road, according to the village. Village Manager Dawn Caldwell said the 2.2-mile multi-use path provides pedestrian and bicyclist access between Normantown and Taylor. "The path runs north and south through NGPL easement which is located about a quarter mile off of Weber Road, " Caldwell said. There are also two LED light pedestrian crossings, one at 135th Street near Joliet Junior College and the other at Grand Avenue. Caldwell said the project was funded by an Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity grant for $780,000, federal contribution of $620,000 and the village paid $160,000.
