CONCORD, NH — It was another hot day today in New Hampshire with a lot of important news, too. We will be in a mini-heatwave this week and weekend but expect slightly lower temperatures next week. Here is everything happening in the Granite State right now. 2020 Census Data Released The U.S. Census has released a lot of data as part of the 2020 census. The population in New Hampshire grew by nearly 5 percent during the past 10 years — about 61,000 new residents. Rockingham and Strafford counties grew by around 6 percent while Hillsborough County grew by 5.5 percent and Merrimack County grew by 5 percent. New Hampshire is fourth on the list for least diverse state although those numbers changed during the past 10 years — moving from about 94 percent white in 2010 to 88.3 percent in 2020 (Maine is first and Vermont is second on the list). 2 Arrested On COVID-19 Fraud Scheme Two New Hampshire business owners were arrested, accused of participating in pandemic-related wire fraud schemes. Michael Rosa, 61, of Salem, and George Adyns, 50, of Sandown, were indicted by a federal grand jury. They were accused of defrauding government programs that were intended to provide economic assistance related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, Rosa and Adyns laid-off employees from Enviromart and KSC Industrial, two companies they controlled, and then, were accused of directing employees to continue working for the companies while collecting unemployment insurance — including the $600 emergency weekly COVID-19 bonus payments. Fatal Crash On Route 125 In Brentwood A highway, that was part of an enforcement effort last weekend, was closed on Thursday due to a fatal crash, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. Danielle Doucette-Boyd of Newmarket died during the three-vehicle crash which occurred around 10 a.m. Weare School Board Member Arrested Again Rochelle Kelley, a woman who serves on the Weare school board, was arrested in September 2020 on criminal trespass and disorderly conduct charges in Concord, after being accused of refusing to leave a playground during the pandemic lockdown. She was arrested again last month, this time in Weare, after a traffic stop. Read the Raw Story post here. Capitol Center For The Arts: Please Wear A Mask Wednesday's PM Patch NH featured information about the Tupelo Music Hall now requiring vaccine passports or a negative test within 72 hours of attending a show — even though anyone, out and about, three days before a concert, could catch the virus, vaccinated or not, masks or not, and pass it onto others. Tupelo is not going to refund tickets purchased by customers not wanting to share their personal health info or even if they are sick the day of the show. This decision, while within his right as a club owner, was disappointing, to say the least (especially as a big supporter of Tupelo, having interviewed Scott Hayward a bunch of times and taken in a number of shows over the years). Less than 24 hours later, the Capitol Center for the Arts, another premiere performance space, issued its new COVID-19 guidelines. Joe Gleason, the interim executive director, urged their customers to get the jab — but the center will not be requiring proof of vaccination. Kudos to him for that decision. The center will require masks at performances. Traditionally, the venue does not offer refunds or exchanges to customers. But it will be for ticket holders who do not want to wear a mask or might get sick on the day of the performance. See how easy that was, Scott? That's how to take care of customers you care about — especially if they are sick or do not want to share personal health information with an app just to see a band and support the arts.
