Press release from the Francis Howell School District:
08/12/2021
Francis Howell Middle School (FHMS) was named a 2021 Missouri Gold Star School by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). "This is a top honor in the state," said Dr. Nathan Hoven, Francis Howell School District superintendent. "It just further demonstrates the high-quality work that goes on in our schools. Congratulations to our dedicated FHMS staff who made this recognition possible." The Gold Star Program, which aligns with the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, recognizes schools for outstanding academic achievement or for performing at high levels while serving a significant proportion of disadvantaged students. National Blue Ribbon Schools Program "I am honored to recognize the students, faculty, and staff at these schools who have worked hard to earn this recognition," said Margie Vandeven, commissioner of elementary and secondary education. "Each of these schools sets high standards while remaining committed to meeting the needs of every student." A recognition event to celebrate the designation as a 2021 Gold Star School will take place at FHMS in late August.
