LEMONT, IL — If you'd like to learn more about Lemont's quarries and the I&M Canal, you can head out to the Lemont Area Historical Society's walking tour on Saturday.
The historical society will share the history of how the quarries came to be and how the I&M Canal opened Lemont as a direct pathway to Chicago, according to the event page.
The tour will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and participants can meet at the Heritage Quarries first parking lot. It is $10 per adult, $7 for seniors and $5 per child; cash or check only.
The walk will be about 3/4 of a mile and also covers some rocky terrain with slight inclines.
