JOLIET, IL — Joliet police arrested a 22-year-old Crest Hill man on Wednesday in connection with a burglary and man's beating on the city's east side. The crime happened around 3:30 p.m. near Arthur Avenue and Woodruff Road.
Several minutes later, Joliet police, with help from Crest Hill captured Joshua McGaughy. He is now in the Will County Jail facing charges of aggravated battery and burglary to a motor vehicle.
According to Joliet police, McGaughy beat a man and then burglarized the man's car while the victim's small child was inside it. McGaughy then drove away in his car before Joliet police arrived at the scene.
"A short time later, the Crest Hill Police Department located the vehicle in the 1100 block of Elizabeth Court and were chasing McGaughy, who was fleeing on foot," police reports state. "Joliet police officers in the area located McGaughy near George Avenue and Pearson Drive and he was taken into custody without incident."
