EAGAN, MN — In July 2021, officers, deputies and troopers from 294 agencies across Minnesota reported 17,205 speeding citations, according to a news release from The Minnesota Department of Public SafetyOffice of Traffic Safety. Eagan Police Department reported 44 speeding citations in the month of July, the highest speed coming in at 80 mph in a 55 zone, officials said. In July throughout the state, 94 speed-related deaths and 250 speed-related serious injuries were reported-numbers higher than those in previous years, according to officials. In 2020, 66 speed-related deaths and 219 speed-related serious injuries were reportedIn 2019, 39 speed-related deaths and 214 speed-related serious injuries were reportedIn 2018, 61 speed-related deaths and 202 speed-related serious injuries were reportedIn 2017, 50 speed-related deaths and 225 speed-related serious injuries were reported July is part of the campaign, "Help Slow Down Behaviors Endangering Minnesotans," the office said.
