MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — One man is injured after a traffic crash Thursday afternoon that shut down all lanes on Oakten Street for hours, police told Patch.
According to preliminary reports, a Ford Crown Victoria and semi tractor-trailer collided at the corner of Oakten Street and Elizabeth Drive at around noon. The driver of the Ford had to be extricated from his car by the Mount Prospect Fire Department and taken to a nearby hospital.
Police did not immediately know the extent of the man's injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not report any injuries.
Oakten Street was closed from noon to 3:30 p.m., according to Officer Greg Sill.
"Anytime you have a crash that involves extrication, typically the severity of it could be great," Sill said.
The crash is still under investigation and no citations have been issued, authorities said.
