2 male chinchillas need a home

Due to health and personal reasons, I unfortunately have to rehome my two chinchillas. They are both about 8-9 years old and very active. Both gentlemen are very friendly with people. They love to be scratched behind their ears and under their chins but hate being held. They do NOT have to go together and cannot be housed together, they will fight. Link is an all gray boy and an independent soul that loves to bounce around outside his cage for as long as possible. He will happily jump on your lap and ask for attention. His cage and play area need to be well chinchilla-proof or he will chew everything. He likes sticks, treats, and running in his wheel. Sheik is a white and grey, quiet boy that doesn't ask for much. He likes having fresh hay always available. He was never able to figure out an upright wheel so he has a saucer style wheel. There are two cages available, one for each chinchilla. One is a double ferret nation, the other is a Midwest cat cage whose bar spacing is small enough to keep them from squeezing out. The Midwest cage's shelves are lined with a thick wire to prevent chewing. They have metal wheels that should last past the rest of their lives - replacement parts are available online if needed. They have high quality pellets and hay, treats, toys, hammocks, fleece, and organic apple branches. I don't want to rehome them on Craigslist, but I've exhausted all other options and, from personal experience, the SPCA employees (at least in Ithaca) have no small animal experience and no problems telling people they hate small animals. Please let me know about your experience with chinchillas or some research you've done to assure they're going to an appropriate home. Chinchillas don't need regular vet visits, but if you have an exotic vet already, that's a plus. If you are interested, I can refer you to one in the Ithaca area. I just want what's best for these boys. I've had them for many years, but unfortunately circumstances mean they aren't being cared for the way I want them cared for. Rehoming fee applies to assure they are going to a good home.
