ROOSEVELT ISLAND, NY — A Roosevelt Island man has been arrested after police searched his apartment and turned up a large cache of weapons, including a sawed-off rifle, crossbow, samurai sword and ammunition.
The search began around 7 a.m. Thursday, when police entered the apartment of 30-year-old Danny Hernandez at 425 Main St. — part of the Riverwalk Landing building.
Police said they were executing a search warrant pursuant to an investigation, but did not elaborate.
The alleged trove they found consisted of:
Loaded .38 caliber Smith & Wesson firearnSawed-off, defaced Remington rifleCrossbowBlow-dart gunTwo daggersRoman Gladius scabbardMetal sai (Japanese blade-like weapon)Katana samurai swordAmmunitionKnife Hernandez was arrested and charged with nine counts of criminal possession of a weapon, among other offenses, police said.
