Pianist Seeking String Players for Duets

Portland OR

Description

Hi! I play (mostly classical) piano music and am curious to explore playing classical pieces with others. With the aim of intimacy and ease of coordination, this posting is geared to folks looking to play duets, but I might be interested in playing with more people at a time. Some pieces I've enjoyed listening to recently and would be eager to try (parts of) with another person: Beethoven's "Kreutzer" Sonata, Medtner's Violin Sonata No. 1, Rachmaninoff's Cello & Piano Sonata (which I have played / practiced quite a bit), and Brahms' Cello Sonata (which I have performed with my brother). If you're not interested in any of these pieces, I may well still be interested in hearing from you -- we might be able to try playing some music you're more inclined toward. About my piano playing: I have played almost only using sheet music for a while (little to no memorization), and have many shortcomings as a musician. On the other hand, I think I often play soulfully, with passion for the music. I'm open, and potentially excited, about growing as a musician by playing with others, but am looking, with this post, for something playful, and not necessarily to perform with a high technical standard. Maybe a strong performance will come out of this, but let's be loose and see what happens! Where we might play: With COVID-19 cases so high, I am reluctant to invite people to my home, so perhaps we could play over videochat, or at one of the public pianos in Portland, or just keep this as an option to consider when coronavirus is calmer. Thank you for reading! I look forward to any responses.
