Caretaker of Facilities, Job Description Position available for a reliable caretaker that can assist in monthly on-going tasks at a self storage property in the Farmville, VA area. We encourage candidates interested in ongoing tasks to reply. This could be a perfect fit for someone with their own lawn care business, handyman business, or retiree. Candidates will need to be independent individuals capable of working with minimal supervision who take great pride of ownership in all they do. Part-Time: 6-10+/- hours monthly. Ongoing Monthly Responsibilities: ● Handle small maintenance repairs that fall in your abilities ● Spray weed/brush killer as needed ● Report the need of larger maintenance repairs ● Coordinate and meet with outside contractors as directed by management ● Respond to maintenance requests from management in a timely manner ● Maintain the cleanliness of driveways and grounds to ensure the property is clean and free of trash and debris ● Perform monthly lock checks as directed and work with management on overlocking of self storage units as needed ● Sweep interior of facilities to ensure all buildings are clean ● Empty Lock Drop Box on the property as needed ● Take pictures of the facility as needed to send to management for facility audit ● Confirming units are cleaned out once vacated and making sure they are broom swept prior to re-renting ● In rare cases, handle the cleanout of abandoned units with or without the assistance of local junk removal companies Requirements: ● Must have a smartphone with picture taking and texting capabilities ● Reliable with good communication skills and email access ● Pride of ownership in all that they do - willingness to treat the facility as their own ● Access to simple hand tools preferred *NOTE – Applicants with many of these skills, but perhaps not all are still encouraged to apply Job Type: Part-time Compensation negotiable this is a 1099 position. Compensation is expected to be $150-$200/month.
